TPOC Axyon
With a plethora of speakers to chose from and nothing that tickled our fancy enough in terms of cost/performance ratio when it comes to main monitors, we set out to create our own – the TPOC Axyon
A unrivaled speaker at the price-point, for studios as well as enthusiasts.
It differs from most offerings on the market – not in major, but in many small ways.
Its super-rigid 10 inch aluminium-woofer with a moving mass of only 50g delivers dry and accurate bass, reaching lower than any ported system on the market – 15 Hz and less are reproduced at listening levels.
A 4 inch super-low-distortion, high excusion driver allows for extremely low and high crossovers – leaving most of the music untouched by phase-issues and delivering the entire vocal-range from a point-source.
Last but not least, a waveguided DXT-tweeter takes over the high-end, aiding a wide sweet-spot with its constant directivity pattern.
Classic design outside, cutting-edge technology inside.
3-Way Mode
In 3-Way Mode we get full-range response from less than 20Hz and a crossover-setting, that allows the midrange to take care of most of the music. The main setting for mixing and mastering will reveal details you never knew existed. Even more importantly, it reveals the slightest tonal changes, showcasing how vastly different commercially produced music can actually sound.
2-Way Mode
2-Way Mode offers a different crossover-setting, using the midranges extraordinary bass-capabilities to deliver the sound of a high-end bookshelf speaker or small monitor at the push of a button. It is ideal for double-checking your mixes, or to not upset your neighbors (as much) when listening at late hours.
1-Way Mode
One-Way mode sends the entire spectrum of the music through the midrange driver, simulating what’s known as a mixcube or pretty much any smaller one-way speaker. It enables super-coherent critical listening without any crossovers in the signalpath, allowing you to focus intensly on the midrange as well as long sessions without ear-fatuige.
Low-resonance, double-damped enclosure
The sealed wooden enclosure with its 48mm thick, 34-layer front baffle is designed to minimize resonances and vibrations. The Midrange enclosure uses a specialized filling of increasing density and an internal diffuser to break up backwaves from the cone.
Slightly beveled edges aid with diffraction in a free-standing setup but still retain a design that is perfectly suited for soffit-mount applications.
The Axyon delivers uncolored and punchy bass even at low listening volumes and sums very close to the speaker considering its size. With its flexible crossover-design it therefore becomes suitable for even the smallest mid-field setups.
On the contrary, small tweaks in the crossover allow for insane SPLs if required – the Axyon is as flexible as you need it to be – and will alway be tailored by us to perfectly meet your requirements.
Cloud Setup & Soundprofiles
Setting up the Axyon in your location d.
The DSP is the brain of the speaker and controls how it responds. The ultra-linear drivers allow for settings that realistically reproduce the sound-signature of a variety of systems at the push of a button. Wonder how your mix would sound in the club, or on a small 2-way speaker? The XxX can emulate different speakers while retaining a natural sound and will continously be updated with new sound-profiles.
Built-in Room Correction
The DSP-controlled amplifiers of the Axyon allow for precise correction of the room-response directly in the crossover. This makes third-party room-correction software and hardware obsolete, simplifying your setup and freeing up processing-power.
Store your room setup and measurements on the cloud and update them if something changes in your room. Share you measurement data with us to recieve room-corrected crossover settings and upload them directly to the Axyon.
Effortless mixes that translate
Who doesn’t know the endless car-checks and going back and forth on a mix for days. If you’re like me, you’ve had a long learning-curve but you still feel like you’re tapping in the dark about cetrain mix-decisions.
I’ve mixed on my limiter-deleted Yamaha HS80’s amongst some others for over a decade, pretty much knowing them by heart. Yet, no matter how well I’ve known them, there were always nuances in the music the speakers simply didn’t show and where I kept guessing. I also had to heavily rely on A/B comparisons and switching monitors for mastering and dialing in the overall tonality.
Instead of upgrading my speakers I decided to max out what was possible with the setup I had, while at the same time testing and studying avaliable studio monitors in every price-category. I realized there was nothing that did exactly what I wanted – and nothing that struck me as a clear winner around the 10.000€ price-point.
So I set out over the course of two years to design the TPOC Axyon, a monitor that feels like you are listening to headphones while at the same time effortlessly revealing tonal balances.
Parts by
Our Philosophy
As an independent recording studio our operation can’t be compared to a big speaker manufacturer. While bigger manufacturers buy parts in bulk and therefore get better prices, they also have to pay their employees, distributors and lots of other expenses. We developed this speaker over the course of 2 years, building the very prototype that we are using in our studio today. This approach to development allowed us to keep the costs that are de-facto not third-party labor or material costs to a minimum. You will be hard pressed to find a comparable speaker on the market for under €15.000, let alone a better one – but don’t listen to us – listen to the speakers.
